PORTALES, N.M. — Sophomore midfielder Nicole Bregler (Alamogordo, NM/ Alamogordo HS) became the second Zia to receive Lone Star Conference All-Academic honors in the program’s three-year history, as she earned a spot on the 2005 LSC South All-Academic Team. Five of her teammates were named to the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, including senior forward Karly Parkans (Peoria, AZ/Paradise Valley CC), junior defender Pamela Campbell (Sierra Vista, AZ/Cochise College), sophomore defender Katharine Coulombe (Sammamish, WA/Eastlake HS), sophomore forward Kara Henderson (Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho HS) and sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Sanchez (Belen, NM/Belen HS).

The LSC sports information directors chose the players for the All-Academic Team based upon their accomplishments in academics and athletics. In order to be considered, each player had to maintain a 3.20 grade point average while completing at least 24 semester hours at their current institution and reaching sophomore athletic status. All qualifying student-athletes who were not chosen for the All-Academic Team were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
