Box Score

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University held Texas A&M University-Kingsville to just 19.0% field goal shooting (11 of 58) and limited the Javelinas to the lowest score against the Zias in 23 years, as ENMU defeated TAMUK, 52-33, in a Lone Star Conference game at Greyhound Arena on Saturday, Feb. 26. It was Eastern's fourth consecutive win and improved the Zias to 13-14 on the season, including 7-7 in the LSC South. TAMU-Kingsville finished the season with a 6-21 record, 2-12 in the LSC South.

Tiana Bryant (Jr., F, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) provided a double-double for the Zias with 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also blocked three shots and hit 7 of 10 field goals. Loren Scarlett (Sr., Post, Throckmorton, TX/Throckmorton HS) chipped in eight points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds. The Zias outrebounded TAMUK, 44-33, and did not allow a three-point basket, as Kingsville went 0 of 11 from behind the three-point line.

Kingsville's 33 points were the fewest scored against ENMU since the Zias defeated the College of Santa Fe, 73-31, on Feb. 17, 1982. Eastern's all-time record for fewest points allowed was earned against Sul Ross State University, in an 87-24 win on Nov. 30, 1978.

The Zias tied Texas A&M University-Commerce for fourth place in the LSC South. ENMU did not qualify for the LSC Tournament, however, as Commerce won the tie-breaker. ENMU and the Lions split their head-to-head meetings, but Commerce went 1-1 against West Texas A&M, while the Zias were 0-2 against the Lady Buffs.
