Jamaal Hunnicutt Chosen LSC South Player of the Week
Averages 17 points and nine rebounds during 2-0 week

PORTALES, NM — Eastern New Mexico University senior forward Jamaal Hunnicutt (6’5”, 225 lbs., Amarillo, TX/Canyon Randall HS/Hill JC) has been named Lone Star Conference South Division Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 9, after leading the Greyhounds in scoring and rebounding in wins over the University of Central Oklahoma and Northeastern State University. ENMU defeated Central Oklahoma, 66-63, on Jan. 6 and slipped past Northeastern State, 65-62,
on Jan. 8.

Hunnicutt averaged 17.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. He provided Eastern with 18 points and seven rebounds in the win over UCO, then connected for 16 points and 11 boards against NSU. He also earned four assists, blocked three shots and recorded four steals.

He reached the 1,000-point mark against NSU and has scored 1,002 points during his ENMU career. He is Eastern’s leading scorer this season, with a career-high 14.4 points per game. He has played in 96 games for the Hounds, and has earned a career average of 10.4 points per game.

Hunnicutt also has accumulated 638 rebounds during his career. He leads this year’s team with 90 rebounds, an average of 6.8 rebounds per game. Eastern’s LSC crossover wins over UCO and NSU from the North Division allowed the Greyhounds to improve to 6-7 on the season. ENMU has won three of its last four games, losing only to New Mexico State University of NCAA Division I.

The Greyhounds return to action with a pair of LSC crossover games this week. ENMU will play at Southeastern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. MST. The Hounds will take on East Central University on Saturday, Jan. 15, in another road game at 3 p.m. MST.

ENMU will begin its LSC South schedule on Thursday, Jan. 20, in a home game against Texas A&M University-Commerce at 7:30 p.m. MST. The Greyhounds have won the last two LSC South titles, finishing 11-1 in 2002-03 and 10-2 in 2003-04. ENMU was 20-8 overall during the 2003-04 season and went 20-9 record last season. The Greyhounds also earned their second ever NCAA Division II Tournament berth in 2003-04.
