Southeastern Oklahoma Holds off Greyhounds, 7-6, to Complete Sweep on First Day of Four-Game Series
Savages Win First Game, 5-1, Behind 3-Hitter by Keefer

Box Score - Game #1, SOSU 5, ENMU 1
Box Score - Game #2, SOSU 7, ENMU 6

DURANT, OKLA. — Southeastern Oklahoma State University saw its 7-1 lead almost disappear by allowing five runs in the fifth inning, but the Savages held on for a 7-6 win over Eastern New Mexico University in the second game of a Lone Star Conference crossover double-header, Friday, Mar. 11 in Durant, Okla. The Savages also won the first game, 5-1, as pitcher Tommy Keefers threw a complete-game three hitter with six strikeouts and no walks. SOSU upped its record to 9-8, while ENMU dropped to 8-10.

The Greyhounds managed just nine hits during the double-header, but Bryan Moore (Sr., 2B, Wolfforth, TX/Howard College) recorded 3 hits in 6 at bats, incuding two of Eastern's three hits in the opener. Moore also scored one run in each game. Brett Scherer (Sr., 3B/P, Ingram, TX/Midland College) earned two RBIs in the second game, while Derrick Kennedy (Fr., OF, San Antonio, TX/G.W. Brackenridge HS) added a double to drive in three more runs in the nightcap.

Kelly Crain (Jr., RHP, Gordon, TX/Gordon HS) struck out seven batters and Kellen Smith (Fr., RHP, Amarillo, TX/Randall HS) pitched the last two outs for ENMU to hold SOSU to five runs in the opener. Even so, the Hounds couldn't keep pace with the Savages, as Keefer virtually shut down the Eastern offense to secure the win.
