DURANT, OKLA. — Dallas Vanderford scored on a single by Riley Ridling with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, as Southeastern Oklahoma State University edged Eastern New Mexico University in a pitcher's duel, 2-1, in the first game of a double-header on Saturday, Mar. 12. The Savages also won the second game, 6-2, behind a combined eight-hitter from pitchers Heath Pierce, Darryl Burkett and Shawn Dorries.

SOSU won all four games in the Lone Star Conference crossover series, including 5-1 and 7-6 wins on Friday, Mar. 11, to improve to 11-8 on the season. Eastern fell to 8-12.

In Saturday's opener, ENMU took a 1-0 lead in the top fo the fourth inning, when Brett Scherer (Sr., 3B/P, Ingram, TX/Midland College) blasted a leadoff double, stole third with two outs and scored on a single by Derrick Kennedy (Fr., OF, San Antonio, TX/G.W. Brackenridge HS). Jeremy Barber and Sean Cawood provided SOSU with back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. The next two innings were scoreless, then the Savages recorded three consecutive singles in the bottom of the seventh to produce the winning run.
