Natasha Lindsey Chosen LSC South
Pitcher of the Week

Strikes Out six batters in six-inning, run-rule Victory

PORTALES, N.M. — Junior right-handed pitcher Natasha Lindsey (Auburn, WA/Tusculum College) has been named the Lone Star Conference South Division Pitcher of the Week for the week ending Mar. 6, 2005. Lindsey received the honor following a commanding performance on the mound in a six-inning, run-rule win against the College of the Southwest on Mar. 5 at Zia Softball Field.

Lindsey threw a complete-game four-hitter in Eastern’s 9-1 victory over the Lady Mustangs. CSW managed only a .182 batting average against Lindsey, who is now 1-1 in her first season with the Zias.

Lindsey overpowered the CSW batters, as she recorded six strikeouts in six innings. For the season, she is averaging better than one strike out per inning, with 12 strikeouts in only 11 2/3 innings pitched.

With the victory, the Zias surpassed last year’s victory total, when ENMU finished 11-36. The Zias play next at Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Wednesday, Mar. 9, before heading to a weekend series at defending NCAA Division II national champion Angelo State University on Friday, Mar. 11 and Saturday, Mar. 12. The ASU series will open Lone Star Conference South Division play for both teams.
