Larry Prince Signs National Letter-of-Intent with ENMU Men's Basketball Team

PORTALES, N.M. — Larry Prince, a 6’6” 190-pound forward from Wallace State-Hanceville Community College in Hanceville, Ala., has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team. Prince, who has played two seasons at Wallace State-Hanceville CC, will be a junior during the 2005-06 season.

Prince, from Haynesville, Ga., averaged 10.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game at WS-HCC during the 2004-05 season. The Lions advanced to the Alabama Community College Conference quarterfinals before falling to Faulkner State College, 74-72. Prince ended the season ranked sixth in the ACCC in rebounding.

“Larry is an athletic forward who plays hard and makes plays,” ENMU Head Coach Shawn Scanlan said. “He has a knack for always being around the ball. He rebounds exceptionally well, and can score effectively from mid-range on in. He has a nice offensive game around the basket, and will fit in very easily in our passing game offense. We are very excited to have Larry with us for the coming season.”

Eastern New Mexico University battled through numerous injuries during 2004-05 and ended the year with a 9-18 record. The Hounds hope to stay healthy next year and return to the form that won them back-to-back Lone Star Conference South Division titles in 2002-03 and 2003-04 with a combined record of 40-17 (.702) those two years. The Greyhounds qualified for the LSC Tournament both years and earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2003-04.
