PORTALES, N.M. — Brian Swan, a 5’10”, 163-pound defender from The Colony High School in The Colony, Texas, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer team. Swan will be a freshman at ENMU during the 2005 season.

Swan played soccer three years and football for two seasons at The Colony. He scored four goals and had six assists during the spring 2003 soccer season, then put in four goals to go with three assists in 2004. This spring, he scored two goals and provided six assists. During his three seasons of soccer, he scored 10 goals and earned 15 assists. He played football in the fall of 2001 and again in 2003.

In addition to playing for The Colony, Swan competes in club soccer. His club team is the River Plate 87 White coached by Gabriel Gentile.

“Brian is a good outside back, who will definitely add depth to our defense’s ability to play out of the back,” ENMU Head Coach Carlos Elizondo said. “We have high expectations for Brian, and we know he will rise to meet them.”

Eastern New Mexico University fielded its first intercollegiate men’s soccer team this past fall. The Greyhounds played in the highly-competitive Southwest Soccer Conference, which included eight talented squads, with four challenging at the national level. ENMU finished its first season with a 6-12-2 overall record, including 3-10-1 in the SSC. The Hounds lost six conference games by one goal.
