Tracy Jordan Selected First Team Academic All-District for Second Year in a Row

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University softball player Tracy Jordan (Jr., 2B, Rosamond, CA/Desert HS) has been named to the First Team of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI College Division Team for the second consecutive year. The Academic All-District Team was chosen by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Jordan, who is majoring in Physical Education, owns a 4.00 cumulative grade point average. She was chosen Honorable Mention All-Lone Star Conference South Division in 2004 and was named to the 2004 LSC South All-Academic Team. She has been nominated for the LSC South All-Academic Team again this year.

As a First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection, Jordan is eligible for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors. The Academic All-America Team will be announced on Thursday, June 2.

In 2005, Jordan played in and started 47 of Eastern’s 49 games. She hit .261 with 24 RBIs and 14 runs scored. She blasted nine doubles and two homers. On defense, she achieved a .957 fielding percentage, with 118 putouts, 102 assists and 10 errors.

Jordan also earned First Team Academic All-District VI honors in 2004, when she led the Zias with a .326 batting average. She provided the Zias with a team-high 27 RBIs in 2004, and also ranked first on the team with seven doubles and three home runs.

In three seasons at Eastern, Jordan has contributed 59 RBIs, while hitting 23 doubles and five home runs. She has earned a .279 career batting average and has scored 36 runs. She has recorded 286 putouts, 256 assists and 33 errors for a .943 career fielding percentage.

ENMU completed the 2005 season with a 20-29 overall record, up from 11-36 in 2004. The Zias were 3-17 in the LSC South, but lost seven conference games by a single run.

CoSIDA District VI includes colleges and universities in New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. Players nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team were starters or key reserves with cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher (4.0 scale). Each player was at her current college or university for at least one academic year.

The College Division includes players in NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA. The Zias compete in NCAA Division II and in the Lone Star Conference South Division.
