Pamela Campbell Selected Second Team Academic All-District

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University soccer player Pamela Campbell (Jr., D, Sierra Vista, AZ/Cochise CC) has been named Second Team ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District 6. Voting was by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Campbell, a Biology major (Zoology), has maintained a 3.63 cumulative grade point average. In 2003, she was awarded Honorable Mention All-Lone Star Conference honors. She also was voted to the LSC All-Academic Team in 2003 and qualified for the LSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2003 and 2004. She was on the ENMU Athletic Honor Roll in Fall of 2003, Spring 2004 and Fall 2004.

In 2005, Campbell played a key role in helping the Zias achieve the first winning record in their three-year history. She has now played in 51 games for Eastern, including 15 games (13 starts) during the inaugural season in 2003. She played in 17 games (all starts) in 2004 and in 19 games (17 starts) this season. Campbell has started 47 games during her career.

This season, Campbell was fifth on the team in minutes played with a total of 1,372 minutes. She made major contributions on defense and also provided two shots, including one shot on goal. Campbell’s skill and experience helped anchor a defense that recorded seven shutouts and gave up only one goal on five other occasions. The Zias’ record in games in which they allowed no goals or only one goal was 9-2-1.

CoSIDA District VI includes colleges and universities in New Mexico, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas. Players nominated for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors were starters or key reserves with cumulative GPAs of 3.2 or higher (4.0 scale). Each player was at her current college or university for at least one academic year.

The College Division includes players in NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA. The Zias compete in NCAA Division II and in the Lone Star Conference.
