Tickets Still Available for ENMU at WTAMU Football Game

PORTALES, N.M. — Despite rumors of a sellout, tickets still remain for the football
game between Eastern New Mexico University and West Texas A&M University set for Saturday, Oct. 8 at Kimbrough Stadium in Canyon, Texas. As of mid-afternoon on Tuesday, Oct. 4, there were between 5,000 and 6,000 tickets still on sale for the game at West Texas A&M.

ENMU (4-2, 2-0 LSC South) and West Texas (6-0, 2-0 LSC South) will battle for the Wagon Wheel and the Lone Star Conference South Division lead at 5 p.m. MST on Saturday. The winner will have a one-game lead over the rest of the division with three games remaining on the LSC South schedule. The game also is part of the Homecoming weekend at West Texas A&M.

Tickets for the ENMU vs. WTAMU game are $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 5-17. For ticket information or to order tickets, please call the WTAMU Ticket Office at (806) 651-4424. If that line is busy, please call the WTAMU Athletic Office at (806) 651-4400. A sellout is expected by game time, so fans are encouraged to arrive early. Gates will open at 3 p.m. MST.

West Texas A&M is ranked #16 in this week’s NCAA Division II Poll conducted by the
American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). In the Southwest Region rankings, the Buffaloes are #1 and the Greyhounds are #8.

This weekend’s contest will be the 20th game between the two teams, who first met in 1945. WTAMU won the first encounter, 57-6. The teams did not play again until 1986, when the Wagon Wheel series began.

ENMU leads the overall series, 11-8, with the Greyhounds holding an 11-7 lead in the Wagon Wheel series. Eastern won last year’s game, 21-20, during Homecoming at Greyhound Stadium, as the Hounds retained the Wagon Wheel for the fifth time in the past six years.

ENMU will be sponsoring a bus to take supporters to the Wagon Wheel game. Please confirm your spot by calling Jeff Blake at 562-2242, or by stopping by room 104 in the Campus Union. Space is limited to 39 people and the bus will leave from the Campus Union at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8.
