Eastern Plays CSU-Pueblo to 0-0 Tie at ENMU Soccer Field

PORTALES, N.M. — Eastern New Mexico University held on for a 0-0 tie in two overtime periods against Colorado State University-Pueblo in a men’s soccer game on Sunday,
Sept. 4 at the ENMU Soccer Field. Greyhound goalkeeper Leif Craddock (So., Amarillo, TX/West Texas A&M University) recorded nine saves in the shutout, giving Eastern a 1-2-1 record. CSU-Pueblo left Portales with an identical 1-2-1 record.

Craddock was able to handle the initial offensive onslaught by the Thunderwolves, who took 12 shots in the first half of play. CSU-Pueblo was very aggressive on offense, outshooting Eastern 21-9 in the double-overtime game. ENMU managed only three shots on goal, as CSU-P forced Craddock to make nine saves.

Jonathan Holman (So., F, Rio Rancho, NM/Rio Rancho HS) recorded two of Eastern’s three shots on goal. The only other Greyhound forcing a save by Pueblo’s goalie, David Winchell, was midfielder Andrew Perez (So., San Angelo, TX/Lake View HS).

Eastern will stay at home for the next three matches, beginning with the West Texas A&M University Buffaloes on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m. MST. On Friday, Sept. 9, the Greyhounds will take on the University of the Incarnate Word at 4 p.m. MST. The homestand will conclude on Sunday, Sept 11, with a match against Saint Mary’s University starting at 3 p.m.
