ENMU Remains Winless with 3-0 Loss at LCU LUBBOCK, TEXAS — The Eastern New Mexico University Zias dropped their third match in a row to start the season, losing to Lubbock Christian University, 30-19, 30-22, 30-19, on Tuesday, Sept. 6 in Lubbock, Texas. LCU improved to 7-2 with the win. As she has done in every match this fall, Lindsay Schiely (Sr., MB, Portland, OR/Clackamas CC) led the Zias, accumulating 11 kills in the loss. Rhea Wortman (Fr., OH, Prineville, OR/Crook County HS) and Kristi Britain (Sr., OH, Fort Sumner, NM/Fort Sumner HS) each recorded nine kills for the Zias. Marcie LeGrand (Jr., RS, Amarillo, TX/Randall HS) earned a .364 hitting percentage for ENMU, as she recorded five kills and just one error on 11 total attacks. Britain and Wortman topped the Zias with 12 digs each. Grace George (Jr., MB, Kaaawa, HI/Kahuku HS) and Kathryn McCannell (Jr., S, Brandon, MAN, Canada/Bemidji State Univ.) provided eight digs apiece. LCU’s Kenee Carter and Meagan Kamplain tied Schiely with a match-high 11 kills. Kamplain also contributed 23 digs, while Hayley Whiteside added 15 digs. The Lady Chaps pounded their way to 47 kills and a .291 team hitting percentage, while holding the Zias to 41 kills and a .161 hitting percentage. Eastern returns to action at the Lone Star Conference/Heartland Conference Crossover Tournament, Sept. 9-10 in Austin, Texas. Two matches are scheduled for the Zias on Friday, Sept. 9, starting with a 9 a.m. (MST) meeting against Dallas Baptist University. ENMU will finish the day against St. Edward’s University at 4 p.m. (MST). On Saturday, Sept. 10, Eastern is slated to take on St. Mary’s University (Texas) at 2 p.m. (MST).
