Gardner Finishes Fourth in Short Go at NIRA
College National Finals Rodeo, Second Overall

CASPER, WYO.— Sophomore Raelyn Gardner (Lovington, NM/Lovington HS) from the Eastern New Mexico University rodeo team finished fourth in the short go of the breakaway roping Saturday night at the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association College National Finals in Casper, Wyo.

Gardner ’s time of 3.6 seconds was just .9 seconds behind first place Tierani Brusett’s (UMTW) time of 2.7 seconds. Gardner finished second in the overall standings, with a total time of 13.2 seconds, just 0.4 seconds out of first place, and more than a full second ahead of the next closest competitor.

Her time of 2.1 seconds in the third go on Thursday was the best time for any competitor at the event in any of the rounds.
