Justin Redman-Trotter Signs National Letter-of-Intent with ENMU Men's Basketball Team

PORTALES, N.M. — Justin Redman-Trotter, a 6’ 3”, 175-pound guard from Northern Iowa Area Community College in Mason City, Iowa, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Eastern New Mexico University men’s basketball team. Redman-Trotter, from Milwaukee, Wisc., was a two-year starter at NIACC and will be a junior at ENMU in 2006-07.

Redman-Trotter can play either point guard or shooting guard. He averaged 16.6 points per game at Northern Iowa Area CC in 2005-06 to rank second in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference in scoring. He was the ICCAC leader with two steals per game and was fourth in free throw percentage, making 80.4% of his charity shots (160 of 199). Redman-Trotter also placed eighth in the conference with four assists per game. He was named First Team All-Region XI in Division II of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

“Justin sees the floor very well, is a good passer, and plays well at the basket,” ENMU Head Coach Shawn Scanlan said. “His ability to get to the basket will be in contrast to most of our players from this past year. The fact that he gets to the line and is a very good free throw shooter is another great quality.”

The Greyhounds finished the 2005-06 season with a 12-16 overall record, including a 6-6 mark in the LSC South (4th place). ENMU earned a 4-9 record to start the year, but went 8-7 over the final 15 games of the season. The Hounds were 8-3 at home.

Eastern won three of its last four LSC South games to qualify for its third LSC Tournament berth in the past four seasons. ENMU secured the berth with an 84-82 overtime win at Midwestern State University on Feb. 25 in the final game of the regular season.
