ENMU Weekly Highlights (Oct. 17 - Oct. 23, 2005)

Football (4-5, 2-3 LSC South)
*Oct. 22 — Texas A&M-Kingsville (Ranked #21 tie) defeated ENMU, 26-14

Michael Benton (So., QB, 5’11”, 192 lbs., Everman, TX/Everman Joe C. Bean HS)
— 19 carries for 84 yards and 1 touchdown (20-yard run)
— Tied the ENMU record for rushing touchdowns in a season with his 14th of the year,
equalling the record set by Charlie Painter in 1951
— Has rushed 169 times for 988 yards (12 yards to 1,000) this season

Tim Ojeda (Jr., OLB, 5’10”, 195 lbs., Banning, CA/Mt. San Jacinto CC)
— 4 solo tackles, 7 assisted tackles (11 total tackles)
— 2 1/2 tackles behind the line of scrimmage, including 1/2 sack
— Recovered a fumble

Derrick Hunter (Sr., WR, 6’0”, 180 lbs., Lamesa, TX/Lamesa HS)
— Played defensive back for the first time in his career
—2 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle (3 total tackles) and a fumble recovery in the end zone
— Had a touchdown catch called back on offense due to a holding penalty

Cross Country (Ranked #9 in NCAA South Central Region)
*Oct. 22 — Men placed 4th at Lone Star Conference Championships
*Oct. 22 — Women placed 7th at Lone Star Conference Championships

Felix Boit (Fr., 5’8”, 130 lbs., Eldoret, Kenya/Samoei Secondary School)
— 10th place - All-Lone Star Conference; 26:59.1 for 8-kilometer run

Lindsay Schiely (Sr., MB, 6’0”, Portland, OR/Clackamas CC)
— Recorded 32 kills (5.33 per game) and a .592 hitting percentage during the week
—19 kills and 0 errors vs. Oklahoma Panhandle, 13 kills vs. West Texas A&M
— 8 total blocks for the week (6 games)

Amber Davis (Sr., MB, 6’0”, Colorado Springs, CO/Dodge City CC)
— Recorded 15 kills (2.14 per game) and a .520 hitting percentage during the week

Women’s Soccer (10-6-1, 3-3-1 LSC)
*Oct. 21 — Central Oklahoma defeated ENMU, 1-0
*Oct. 23 — ENMU tied Southwestern Oklahoma, 0-0 (2 OT)

Stephanie Sanchez (So., GK, 5’10”, Belen, NM/Belen HS)
—Complete game shutout (110 minutes) in 0-0 tie with SW Oklahoma
—Allowed one goal in 90 minutes against Central Oklahoma
—Gave up one goal in 200 minutes during the week to lower her goals against average to 1.37

Men’s Soccer (4-12-1, 2-9 SSC)
*Oct. 21 — ENMU defeated Missouri Southern, 1-0
*Oct. 23 — Northeastern State defeated ENMU, 2-1 (2 OT)

Rob Humphrey (So., F/MF, 5’8”, 147 lbs., Moriarty, NM/Fort Lewis College)
— Scored Eastern’s only goal against Missouri Southern on a penalty kick (1st in ENMU history)
— Scored Eastern’s only goal for a 1-0 lead in the game at Northeastern State

Leif Craddock (So., MF, 6’1”, 207 lbs., Amarillo, TX/West Texas A&M University)
—Recorded a complete game shutout (90 minutes) in the win at Missouri Southern
—Gave up just one goal in regulation against Northeastern State

Rodeo
*Oct. 20-22 — The men’s rodeo team took 8th place at the Texas Tech University Rodeo
*Oct. 20-22 — The women’s rodeo team took 9th place at the Texas Tech University Rodeo
