EASTERN NEW MEXICO FOOTBALL TEAM READY FOR ANNUAL GREEN VS. SILVER GAME
PORTALES, NM — The Eastern New Mexico University football team will conclude the 1999 spring practice season on Sat., Apr. 17 with the annual Green vs. Silver Game. Action gets underway at Greyhound Stadium at 1:00 p.m. (MST).

Eastern’s spring game features two teams of players with eligibility remaining. The Green team includes 1998 starting quarterback Bobby Rodriguez, fullback Bruce Hatch, defensive lineman John Williams and linebacker Garett Williams.

The Silver team includes tailback Terrance Smith, back-up quarterback James Williams, defensive tackle Nelson Smith, and linebacker Floyd White. The Green vs. Silver Game will be played in four 12-minute quarters. Kicking situations will be controlled and punts will not be returned.

Due to injuries, the offensive guards will be used evenly by the two teams. Injuries may also force the cornerbacks to switch teams periodically during the game. Third-string quarterback Mike MacCallum will received some playing time on both teams.

Admission is FREE and the public is welcome to attend. Greyhound Stadium is located on Highway 70 between Portales and Clovis.

Last fall, ENMU earned an 8-3 overall record, including 6-3 in the Lone Star Conference South Division. The Greyhounds were ranked as high as a tie for 11th in the NCAA Division II National Poll.

Eastern opens the 1999 season at Western New Mexico University on Sept. 4.
