One Lucky Fan Leaves With a New Truck
His luck was destined to change as David Sanders is the new winner of a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. Sanders was one of many thousand tickets that were sold for Saturday night's drawing, with second prize being a trip for two to Las Vegas. With tickets being sold at $20 a piece, the ENMU Athletic Department brought in at last count over $50,000. The truck was donated by Eastern alumni Al and Lacy Whitehead. Whitehead played football for the Greyhounds.
"I have bought tickets from my grandchildren for some time now and never thought I had a chance of winning," said Sanders. Sanders received a voice mail from ENMU Bench Club Member Charles Chambers immediately after the drawing telling him he was the winner of the new truck. "When Charles called, I thought he was kidding and even thought it may have been my son who won, but I guess I finally got lucky," said Sanders.Richard Salamon, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and an Eastern alumnus, was the winner of the two-night trip to Las Vegas. "We appreciate all the efforts and hard work from everyone involved, especially Al and Lacy Whitehead," said ENMU Athletic Director Mike Maguire.
