Nine ENMU Softball and Baseball Players Earn LSC Academic Honors
Junior Tracy Jordan (Rosamond, Calif./Desert HS) from the Eastern New Mexico University softball team has been selected as the Lone Star Conference South Division Softball Academic Player of the Year. Joining her on the South Division All-Academic Team are junior Danielle Flores (Loving, NM/Loving HS) and Amanda Nightingale (Mesquite, Texas/North Central Texas College). Sophomore Derrick Kennedy (San Antonio, Texas/G.W. Brackenridge HS) was selected to the LSC South First Team All-Academic for baseball. [more]

Valerie Villela Signs National Letter-of-Intent with Eastern New Mexico University Softball Team
Valerie Villela (Vee-YAY-luh), a 5’2” shortstop and second baseman from Mesa Community College in Mesa, Ariz., has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play softball at Eastern New Mexico University. Villela, who previously attended Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix, Ariz., will be a junior at ENMU during the 2007 softball season.

Villela was a First Team All-NJCAA Region I selection at shortstop during each of the past two seasons at Mesa Community College. She recently graduated from Mesa CC with an Associate of General Studies degree. She helped the Thunderbirds qualify for the Region I Tournament in NJCAA Division I in 2006 with an overall record of 42-19-1, including 23-9 in the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (3rd place out of six teams in Division A).

Senior Second Baseman Achieves 4.0 Cumulative GPA, Earns .394 Batting Average in 2006
Tracy Jordan hit .313 during her career, while playing in 200 games for the ZiasEastern New Mexico University softball player Tracy Jordan (Sr., 2B, Rosamond, CA/Desert HS) has been named First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America for the 2006 season. The Academic All-America College Division Softball Team, which featured 11 players on the First Team and 12 players on the Second Team, was chosen by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Jordan recently graduated from Eastern with a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Physical Education. She achieved a 4.00 cumulative grade point average.

Earlier this spring, Jordan was chosen to the First Team of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI College Division Softball Team. It marked the third consecutive season that she earned First Team Academic All-District recognition.

She spent all four years of her college career at ENMU. She recorded a career-high .394 batting average in 2006, while scoring 41 runs, earning 43 RBIs and providing 15 doubles. She also provided the Zias with a .618 slugging percentage. [more]

Eastern New Mexico University softball player Tracy Jordan (Sr., 2B, Rosamond, CA/Desert HS) has been named to the First Team of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI College Division Team for the third consecutive year. The Academic All-District Team, which featured 12 players on the First Team and 12 players on the Second Team, was chosen by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Jordan and other First Team selections from CoSIDA’s eight regions are eligible for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America College Division Softball Team. The Academic All-America Team will be announced on Wednesday, May 31.

This season, Jordan was the only ENMU player in her fourth year with the Zias. She recorded a career-high .394 batting average, while scoring 41 runs, earning 43 RBIs and providing 15 doubles. She also supplied the Zias with a .618 slugging percentage. [more]

Kubik and Nocas Named First Team All-LSC South
Three Zias Chosen for Second Team; Three Earn Honorable Mention
Kelsey KubikJessica NocasJunior right fielder Kelsey Kubik (Tucson, AZ/Pima College) and senior shortstop Jessica Nocas (Riverside, CA/Midland College) both finished the 2006 season batting over .400 and have been named First Team All-Lone Star Conference South Division, as selected by the LSC South head coaches. Kubik hit .439 to lead the Zias, while Nocas batted .413. The First Team All-LSC South squad featured 13 players from the seven LSC South teams.

Three Zias received Second Team All-LSC South honors. Eastern’s Second Team selections were Kristina Goodman (Jr., CF, Artesia, NM/Vernon College), Tracy Jordan (Sr., 2B, Rosamond, CA/Desert HS) and Rosemary Moreno (Sr., P, Midland, TX/Midland College). Honorable Mention recognition went to ENMU players Christina Helland (So., LF, Albuquerque, NM/Rio Rancho HS), Elizabeth Whipkey (So., 1B, Orange, CA/Villa Park HS) and Tina Whitt (Sr., C/3B, Riverside, CA/Midland College). A total of athletes were named to the Second Team, with 18 players receiving Honorable Mention.

ENMU improved its record by 13 wins this season compared to 2005, finishing the year with a 33-21 record and only one game out of the LSC Tournament with a 13-11 conference mark. A year ago, ENMU was 20-29 overall and 3-17 in the LSC South. [more]

Zias, Needing a Sweep, Can only Manage a Split against Angelo State
Rambelles Clinch Final LSC Tournament Berth
On the final day of the regular season on Saturday, April 22, the Eastern New Mexico University softball team needed to sweep Angelo State University to earn a berth in the Lone Star Conference Tournament, but the Zias could only manage a split, as they lost the opener, 9-3, before winning the last game of the year, 8-5, at the Zia Softball Field. ASU, which edged out the Zias for the third and final LSC Tournament berth from the South Division, ended the day with a 31-24 overall record, including 13-9 in the LSC South. ENMU finished the season with a 33-21 record, 13-11 in the LSC South.

Rosemary Moreno (Sr., RHP, Midland, TX/Midland College) pitched a complete game in the opener, while making her third consecutive start in the Angelo State series. She gave up 11 hits and eight earned runs, as her record dropped to 19-9 on the season. [more]

Zias Split on First Day of Four-Game LSC South Series against Angelo State
ENMU Wins Opener, 5-3; ASU Takes Nightcap, 17-9
Eastern New Mexico University, which came into the final series of the regular season needing to win three out of four games against Angelo State University to qualify for the Lone Star Conference Tournament, managed a split on the first day of the series on Friday, April 21, winning the first game, 5-3, and losing the second game, 17-9. ENMU must win the final two games of the series on Saturday, April 22 in order to earn the third and final LSC Tournament berth from the South Division. Following Friday’s action, the Zias were 32-20 overall and 12-10 in the LSC South. ASU, now 29-23 overall, remained one game in front of ENMU in the LSC South with a 12-8 conference record.

Rosemary Moreno (Sr., RHP, Midland, TX/Midland College) threw a three-hitter in the first game to improve to 19-7. She has recorded at least one victory against each of Eastern’s six LSC South opponents this spring. [more]

Zias Win 5-2 and Lose 5-2 on Second Day to Split Four-Game Series at TAMU-Kingsville
ENMU Falls Behind Angelo State in Race for Final LSC Tournament Berth
Eastern New Mexico University and Texas A&M University-Kingsviille, each recorded a 5-2 win on Saturday, April 15 at Hubert Field, as the teams split a Lone Star Conference double-header. ENMU won the first game, then TAMUK took the second game. The teams also split a double-header on Friday, with ENMU winning the opener 6-0 and TAMU-Kingsville taking the nightcap, 6-3.

The split of the four-game series left the Zias at 31-19 overall and 11-9 in the LSC South. TAMUK came out of the weekend with a 21-26 overall record, including 8-9 in the LSC South. ENMU dropped one game out of third place in the race for three LSC Tournament berths from the South Division. [more]

Zias Split at Kingsville, 3-6 & 6-0, as Moreno Records Her 7th Shutout
Rosemary Moreno’s (Sr., RHP, Midland, TX/Midland College) success in the Lone Star Conference South Division continued Friday, Apr. 14 as she pitched a five hit shutout in a 6-0 win for Eastern New Mexico University over Texas A&M University Kingsville at Hubert Field. The Zias lost the opener of the double-header 6-3 to end the day with a 30-17 overall record and 10-7 in the LSC South. The split gave the Javelinas a 7-8-1 conference record and a 20-25-1 overall record.[more]

Zias Split Double-Header with TWU to Remain in Second Place in LSC South
Pioneers Win Opener, 4-1; Zias Win Second Game, 1-0, as Moreno Tosses Two-Hitter
Eastern New Mexico University senior pitcher Rosemary Moreno (Midland, TX/Midland College) limited Texas Woman’s University to only two hits in a complete-game shutout, 1-0, in the second game of a double-header under very windy conditions at Zia Softball Field on Friday, April 7. The victory allowed Eastern to stay in second place in the LSC South, after losing the opener to the Pioneers, 4-1. The split gave the Zias a 29-15 overall record and a 9-5 mark in the LSC South. TWU remained in third place in the LSC South with a 6-5-1 record, as the Pioneers moved to 18-29-1 overall.

ENMU outhit TWU in the first game, 8-7, but a two-RBI homer by Rachel Johnson in the fourth inning put the Pioneers up 2-1 on their way to the victory. Eastern’s only run in the second game came in the third inning, as Kelsey Kubik (Jr., RF, Tucson, AZ/Pima College) drew a bases-loaded walk to force Kristina Goodman (Jr., CF, Artesia, NM/Vernon College) home for the winning run. Moreno retired 17 consecutive batters after giving up two hit in the first inning to improve her record to 16-5 this season.

Zias Remain in Second Place in LSC South after Split at Abilene Christian
ENMU Drops Opener, 5-1, Wins Second Game, 6-2
Rosemary Moreno (Sr., RHP, Midland, TX/Midland College) threw a four-hitter to lead Eastern New Mexico University to a 6-2 win in the second game after dropping the opener 5-1 against Abilene Christian University on Saturday, Apr. 1 at Wells Field in a Lone Star Conference South Division double-header. The Zias, who split the four-game series at ACU, remained in second place in the LSC South with an 8-4 record and are 28-14 overall. The Lady Wildcats maintained their place atop the LSC South with an 11-3 record and a 29-10 overall record. [more]

Zias Split Double-Header at Abilene Christian with 4-1 Loss and 7-6 Win

After losing the opener, 4-1, Eastern New Mexico University scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning of the second game for a 7-6 win to split against Abilene Christian University on Friday, Mar. 31 in a Lone Star Conference South Division double-header at Wells Field. After Friday’s results, the Zias remained in second place in the LSC South with a 7-3 record and are 27-13 overall. Kelsey Kubik Chosen LSC South Hitter of the Week after Batting .846
Eastern New Mexico University’s Kelsey Kubik (Jr., RF, Tucson, AZ/Pima College) was selected as the Lone Star Conference South Division Hitter of the Week through Sunday, Mar. 26, after hitting .846 in a four-game sweep of West Texas A&M University. Kubik accumulated 11 hits in 13 at bats, while earning 15 RBIs and blasting four home runs. She provided at least one hit in every game, including two homers in the opener and one homer in each of the final two contests.

Kubik accounted for six RBIs in Eastern’s come-from-behind win in the third game. She hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to cut a six-run deficit to only two runs, then added a game-tying two-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh. The Zias won the game 10-7 in eight innings. [more]

Zias Pound Out 31 Hits in Double-header Sweep of Adams State, 18-7 and 13-12

ENMU Improves to 26-12 Overall
Courtney McClasky (Sr., C, Keller, TX/Morningside College) hit four home runs in Eastern New Mexico University’s double-header sweep of Adams State College on Tuesday, Mar. 28 at the ASC Softball Field, as she led the Zias to 18-7 and 13-12 victories. Three of McClasky’s homers came in the first game, when she went 4 for 4 with nine RBIs.

Eastern, from the Lone Star Conference, improved to 26-12 overall, including 15 wins in its last 17 games. The Grizzlies, who compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, dropped to 9-21 on the season.

Trailing 4-3 after two innings in the opener, Eastern took command with an 11-run outburst in the top of the third. ENMU tied the score on the first of three ASC fielding errors during the inning. An RBI single by Kelsey Kubik (Jr., RF, Tucson, AZ/Pima College) provided the go-ahead run. McClasky followed a Tracy Jordan (Sr., 2B, Rosamond, CA/Desert HS) single with her first homer of the day, a grand slam for a 9-4 lead. Eastern added five more runs during the inning.[more]

ENMU Announces Signing of Four Softball Players during Early Signing Period last Fall
Eastern New Mexico University signed four softball players to National Letters-of-Intent this past fall during the early signing period, Head Coach Armando Quiroz has announced. All of the new players will be freshmen at ENMU during the 2006-07 academic year.

Kubik Goes 7 for 8 with Grand Slam, Two-Run Homer and 10 RBIs in Sweep of WTAMU, 10-7 and 11-5
Whitt Hits Walk-Off Homer in Eighth Inning to Win First Game
Eastern New Mexico University junior right fielder Kelsey Kubik (Tucson, AZ/Pima College) blasted a grand slam in the sixth inning and Tina Whitt (Sr., 3B/C, Riverside, CA/Midland College) hit a three-run walk-off homer in the eighth, as ENMU rallied from a 7-1 deficit to defeat West Texas A&M University, 10-7, in the first game of a Lone Star Conference double-header at the Zia Softball Field on Saturday, Mar. 25. Kubik was 4 for 4 with a home run in the second game to help ENMU complete the sweep with an 11-5 victory. The Zias, who improved to 24-12 overall, 6-2 in the LSC South, won all four games during the weekend series. WTAMU fell to 10-30 on the season, 1-11 in the LSC South.

Kubik was 7 for 8 on the day. In the opener, her grand slam to left field cut WTAMU’s lead to 7-5, while her two-RBI double in the seventh inning tied the game. She also hit a single. In the second game, she smacked a two-run homer in the second inning, then added three more singles. Kubik recorded 10 RBIs during the double-header. She completed the series with 11 hits in 13 at bats, as she hit .846, with 15 RBIs, six runs scored, four home runs and a double. [more]

Junior right fielder Kelsey Kubik was 3 for 3 with three runs and five RBIs in the first game against WTAMUEastern New Mexico University's Kelsey Kubik (Jr., RF, Tucson, AZ/Pima College) blasted two home runs in the opener, and Elizabeth Whipkey (So., 1B, Orange, CA/Villa Park HS) smacked two homers in the second game, leading ENMU to a sweep over West Texas A&M University, 14-7 and 8-0 on the run rule in six innings, Friday, Mar. 24 at the Zia Softball Field. By sweeping the Lone Star Conference South Division double-header, ENMU improved to 22-12 overall, 4-2 in the LSC South. WTAMU, a first year program led by former Zia head coach Kevin Blaskowski, dropped to 10-28 overall and to 1-9 in the LSC South.

ENMU and West Texas will play another double-header on Saturday, Mar. 25 at 12 p.m. MST to complete the weekend series. The Zias, who defeated WTAMU 4-1 at the Angelo State Classic on Feb. 4, have won their first three meetings with the Lady Buffs. [more]

Double-Header with New Mexico Highlands Canceled
The Eastern New Mexico University softball double-header against New Mexico Highlands University, originally scheduled for Tuesday, Mar. 21 and rescheduled for Wednesday, Mar. 22, has been canceled due to the weather. The double-header will likely be rescheduled, but no date has been selected at this time. ENMU, which has not played since splitting a double-header at Tarleton State University on Mar. 11, is 20-12 on the season. The Zias swept New Mexico Highlands earlier this year, winning 8-0 on the run rule in five innings and 5-4 in nine innings.

Zias Lose First Game 5-3, Take Second Game 3-0, to Split Series at Tarleton
In almost identical fashion to the first day of the series, Eastern New Mexico University lost 5-3 in the opener and won the nightcap 3-0 against Tarleton State University on Saturday, Mar. 11 in a Lone Star Conference South Division double-header at the TSU Softball Complex. The Zias, who split the four-game weekend series, left TSU with an 20-12 overall record and a 2-2 LSC South record. Zias Split at Tarleton, Losing the Opener 11-3 and Winning the Second Game 6-5

Rosemary Moreno (Sr., RHP, Midland, TX/Midland HS) recorded her ninth victory of the year to lead Eastern New Mexico University to a 7-4 win in the second game after losing the opener 11-3 to Tarleton State University, in the Lone Star Conference South Division opening double-header on Friday, Mar. 10 at the TSU Softball Complex. The Zias, who arrived to the series with a seven game winning streak, finished the day with a 19-11 overall record and 1-1 in the LSC South. Zias Sweep New Mexico Highlands, Extend Winning Streak to Seven Games

A three-hit shutout by Amanda Nightingale (Sr., RHP, Mesquite, TX/North Central Texas College) gave Eastern New Mexico University an 8-0 win in the opener and Jessica Nocas’ (Sr., SS, Riverside, CA/Midland College) RBI single in the ninth provided a 5-4 win for the sweep over New Mexico Highlands University on Tuesday, Mar. 7. Rosemary Moreno (Sr., RHP, Midland, TX/Midland HS) pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth for the second game victory, as the Zias improved their record to 18-10 and have won seven consecutive games. The Cowgirls compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and dropped their record to 1-14 overall.[more]

Zias Dominate in 9-1, 14-0 Sweep of College of the Southwest

Eastern New Mexico University won both games of a double-header, 9-1 and 14-0, over the College of the Southwest on Saturday, March 4 at Zia Softball Field. The Zias have recorded a 10-0 record against the second year program from Hobbs, NM and improved their season record to 16-10. The Lady Mustangs, who compete at the NAIA level, dropped their record to 4-12 overall.[more]

Zias Provide Two Shutout Wins in Home Opener against CSW

Amanda Nightingale (Sr., RHP, Mesquite, TX/North Central Texas College) and Rosemary Moreno (Sr., RHP, Midland, TX/Midland HS) kept the College of the Southwest scoreless in both games of a double-header in the home opener for Eastern New Mexico University on Friday, March 3 at Zia Softball Field. With the 17-0 and 4-0 victories, the Zias improved their record to 14-10 this season and remained undefeated against CSW (8-0). The Lady Mustangs, competing in their second year in softball in the NAIA, dropped their record to 4-10 overall.[more]

Nightingale Overpowers East Central’s Hitters for a 3-0 Zia Victory

Amanda Nightingale (Sr., RHP, Mesquite, TX/North Central Texas College) overwhelmed East Central University with a three hit shutout to lead Eastern New Mexico University to a 3-0 win in the opening game of the Lone Star Conference First Pitch Tournament on Feb. 24 at Southwest Park. The tournament was rained out later in the day, as the Zias improved their record to 12-10 overall. The Lady Tigers remained winless this season with a 0-3 record.[more]

Zias Defeat WNMU 10-7 in Opener, Lose 6-5 in Second Game

On the final day of the four-game series, Eastern New Mexico University recorded another split by beating Western New Mexico University 10-7 in nine innings, and fell one run short in its rally attempt in the second game, a 6-5 loss, on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Mustang Field. The Zias, who have been playing on the road for five of the past six days, have attained an 11-10 overall record. The Mustangs have a 3-6 record after the series split.[more]

Zias Split Double-Header at WNMU, Losing Opener 11-9, then Winning 8-7

A two out homer by Tiffany DeVaurs in the bottom of the eighth gave Western New Mexico University an 11-9 win in the opener and Eastern New Mexcio University won the second game 8-7 as Tina Whitt (Sr., C, Riverside, CA/Midland College) belted two homers on Monday, Feb. 20 at Mustang Field. The split gave the Zias a 10-9 overall record and the Mustangs a 2-5 record.[more]

Zias Win Bookends of Triple-Header on Final Day of WTAMU/Holiday Inn Invitational

After weather caused the cancellation of the second day of the West Texas A&M University/Holiday Inn Invitational, Eastern New Mexico University played three games on the final day (Sunday, Feb. 12) of the tournament. Rosemary Moreno (Sr., Midland, TX/Midland College) pitched a five-hitter in the opener for a 13-1 win over Fort Hays State University. In the second game, Eastern got into home run hitting contest in a 16-12 loss to Regis University. The Zia batters continued making contact in the final game of the tournament, a 17-3 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State University which included Amanda Nightingale’s (Sr., P, Mesquite, TX/North Central Texas College) first appearance of the season.[more]

Zias Top Two Colorado Schools on First Day of WTAMU/Holiday Inn Invitational

Eastern New Mexico University’s Rosemary Moreno (Sr., Midland, TX/Midland College) pitched a 9-3 win over Colorado State University-Pueblo and Natasha Lindsey (Sr., Auburn, WA/Tusculum College) controlled Adams State College for an 8-1 win on Friday, Feb. 10 to open up play in the West Texas A&M University/Holiday Inn Invitational at Rick Klein Field. The two wins improved the Zia record to 6-3 overall. This was Pueblo’s first game of the season and Adams State remained winless in four games this year.[more]

Zias Sweep Double-Header at College of the Southwest, 4-0 and 10-2

Eastern New Mexico University remained undefeated in its history against College of the Southwest, winning both games on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 4-0 and 10-2 at the CSW Softball Field. The Zias improved to 6-0 against CSW and get back to over .500 this season with a 4-3 overall record. The Mustangs, competing in their second year of softball, dropped their overall record to 1-6 this year.[more]

Eastern Defeats WTAMU and OPSU, after losing to USAO
Eastern New Mexico University, after losing its first game of the season to the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, 10-6, bounced back with a 4-1 win over West Texas A&M University and a 5-3 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State University, on the opening day of the Angelo State Classic on Saturday, Feb. 4. Eastern ended the day with a 2-1 overall record.[more]

Construction Underway on Softball Fieldhouse and Indoor Hitting and Pitching Facility Site of the Softball Fieldhouse
Zia Softball Field and Greyhound Field on the Eastern New Mexico University campus are changing, as construction has begun on the Softball Fieldhouse, Site of the Indoor Hitting and Pitching Facility the Baseball Fieldhouse and the Indoor Hitting and Pitching Facility. The Softball Fieldhouse, located adjacent to the field, will include a locker room for the Zias, plus offices for Head Coach Armando Quiroz and his assistants. The Indoor Hitting and Pitching Facility, located next to Greyhound Field, will provide a practice location for Eastern's baseball and softball teams during inclement weather and will supplement the existing outdoor batting cages, baseball bullpens and softball pitching cage.

Greyhound Field was constructed Head Coach Phil Clabaugh and members of Eastern's first team when the sport started again in 1992 following a 17-year absence. Zia Softball Field opened in the spring of 1999 for Eastern's third season of competition. Previously, the Zias played at the Portales Industrial Park Fields.

Tracy Jordan and Danielle Flores Named to 2005 LSC South All-Academic Team
The Eastern New Mexico University softball team placed two players on the 2005 Lone Star Conference South Division All-Academic Team. Tracy Jordan (Jr., 2B, Rosamond, CA/Desert HS) and Danielle Flores (So., DP, Loving, NM/Loving HS) were selected to the All-Academic Team by the LSC sports information directors, who voted on the basis of academic and athletic achievement.The Zias placed an additional three players on the LSC South Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Tracy Jordan Selected First Team Academic All-District for Second Year in a RowTracy Jordan

Eastern New Mexico University softball player Tracy Jordan (Jr., 2B, Rosamond, CA/Desert HS) has been named to the First Team of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI College Division Team for the second consecutive year. The Academic All-District Team was chosen by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Jordan, who is majoring in Physical Education, owns a 4.00 cumulative grade point average. She was chosen Honorable Mention All-Lone Star Conference South Division in 2004 and was named to the 2004 LSC South All-Academic Team. She has been nominated for the LSC South All-Academic Team again this year. [more]

Picazo Chosen First Team All-LSC South, Named LSC South Newcomer of the YearTori Picazo

Helland Selected for Second Team; Nocas and Whipkey Earn Honorable Mention
Sophomore designated player Tori Picazo (McKinney, TX/Western Texas College), who set an Eastern New Mexico University single season record with a .486 batting average, has been named First Team All-LSC South in voting by the LSC South coaches. Picazo also was chosen LSC South Newcomer of the Year. Other All Conference selections for Eastern were freshman outfielder Christina Helland (Albuquerque, NM/Rio Rancho HS) on the Second Team, plus Jessica Nocas (Jr., SS, Riverside, CA/Midland College) and Elizabeth Whipkey (Fr., 1B, Orange, CA/Villa Park HS) on the Honorable Mention list.

Picazo's impressive batting average broke the previous ENMU record of .470, set by Jennifer Doolittle in 1998. Picazo ended the 2005 season with 67 hits in 138 at bats. She ranked first in the LSC in batting average and on-base percentage (.566), and was second in slugging percentage (.732) and runs scored (52). She led the Zias with seven home runs.

Helland batted .387, led Eastern with three triples, and scored 25 runs. Nocas hit .391 for the Zias, with a team-high 44 RBIs to go with 31 runs and four homers. Whipkey batted .396, while driving in 38 runs, hitting 12 doubles and earning three home runs. [more]

Sophomore designated player Tori Picazo (McKinney, TX/Western Texas College) earned 6 hits in 8 at bats, and concluded the season with a school record .486 batting average, as Eastern New Mexico University ended the season with a double-header sweep of in-state rival New Mexico Highlands University, winning 10-6 and 10-5 on Tuesday, Apr. 19. The Zias completed their schedule with a 20-29 record, up from 11-36 in 2004. [more]
