Roni Gomez Signs National Letter-of-Intent to Play for ENMU Women's Basketball Team
Transfer from South Plains College Played on State Championship teams at Portales High School
Roni Gomez, a 5’6” guard from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play basketball at Eastern New Mexico University. Gomez, who previously played one season at Garden City Community College in Kansas after graduating from nearby Portales High School, will be a junior at ENMU during the 2006-07 season.
Gomez, the daughter of Portales HS girls’ basketball coach Brenda (Worley) Gomez, will battle for playing time for the Zias at the point guard position. In high school, she was named All-District three times and was an All-State selection in 2002-03 and 2003-04. As a senior in 2003-04, she played in the North/South All-Star Game and the East/West All-Star Game. At South Plains College she qualified for the Dean’s Honor Roll during both semesters in 2005-06.

Ashley Davis Signs National Letter-of-Intent to Play for ENMU Women's Basketball Team
Ashley Davis, a 5’9” guard/forward from Hirschi Math-Science Magnet High School in Wichita Falls, Texas, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team. Davis will be a freshman at ENMU during the 2006-07 season.
Davis averaged about 16 points, four rebounds and five assists per game for Hirschi. She also registered an average of four steals and three blocked shots per game. She scored 32 points against Lubbock Estacado and was named Offensive MVP in District 5-3A this past season. She also was chosen as the Red River 22 All-Star MVP. She was named District Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and was District Defensive Player of the Year in 2004-05. Davis was selected for the Red River All-Star Team three times.

Weese Named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Eastern New Mexico University
Former Texas Tech Assistant will Lead Zias
Linden Weese has been hired as the head coach for the Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team, ENMU Director of Athletics Mike Maguire announced today. Weese, who was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the women’s basketball team at Texas Tech University for 23 years, will begin his duties immediately.
Weese coached at Texas Tech from 1982-83 through 2004-05. He helped the Lady Raiders achieve a 555-173 (.762) record during his lengthy stay on the TTU campus. He also contributed to Texas Tech winning five regular season Southwest Conference championships and three Southwest Conference Tournament titles. He helped the Lady Raiders win three regular season Big 12 titles and achieve two Big 12 Tournament championships. [more]
Bryant Named First Team All-LSC South
Brown Receives Honorable Mention
Tiana Bryant (Sr., Post, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) has been chosen First Team All-Lone Star Conference South Division and Heather Brown (Jr., G, Hereford, TX/Hereford HS) has received Honorable Mention All-LSC South recognition for the 2005-06 season, in voting by the LSC South head coaches. The All-LSC South Team was announced upon completion of the LSC Tournament.
Both selections from ENMU were repeat honorees. Brown was a First Team pick in 2004-05 and an Honorable Mention choice in 2003-04. Bryant was named to the Honorable Mention list last season.[more]
Zias Finish Season on a High Note, Beating Midwestern State 73-83
In its final game of the 2005-06 season, Eastern New Mexico University defeated Midwestern State University 73-63 in a Lone Star Conference South Division game on Saturday, Feb. 25 at Stockton Court. The Zias were led by Heather Brown (Jr., G, Hereford, TX/Hereford HS) and Tiana Bryant (Sr., P, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico), who each finished with 27 points. Eastern finished the season with an 11-17 overall record and a 3-11 LSC South record. The Mustangs, who needed a win to qualify for the LSC tournament, ended their season with an 11-16 record and 5-9 in the LSC South.[more]
ENMU Loses to Tarleton State, 90-62
Eastern New Mexico University came up short in a second half comeback, going down 90-62 to Tarleton State University in a Lone Star Conference South Division game on Thursday, Feb. 23 in Wisdom Gym. The Zias dropped their overall record to 10-17 and 2-11 in the LSC South. The TexAnns improved their record to 19-7 overall and remained in the hunt for first place in the LSC South with a 11-2 record.[more]
Abilene Christian Defeats Zias, 85-76
Wildcats Sink 11 Three-Pointers and Achieve a 49-32 Rebounding Edge
In the final home game of the season, the Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team had difficulty defending the three-point arc in an 85-76 loss to Abilene Christian University, Saturday, Feb. 18, in a Lone Star Conference South Division game. ACU hit 11 three-pointers, including eight on 15 attempts in the first half (53.3%). The Wildcats also earned a 49-32 rebounding advantange.
With the win, ACU remained in contention for a postseason bid to the LSC Tournament, as the Wildcats moved to 11-14 overall, 5-7 in the LSC South. The Zias dropped to 10-16 overall and to 2-10 in the LSC South. [more]
Zias Force 26 Turnovers in 71-65 Overtime Victory over Angelo State
Bryant Scores 27 Points and Kirkland Adds 17
Tiana Bryant (Sr., P, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) and Missy Kirkland (Jr., G, Arlington, TX/Hill College) led Eastern New Mexico University’s offense and a tough team defense for a come-from-behind overtime win against Angelo State University on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Greyhound Arena. The Lone Star Conference South Division victory improved the Zias to 2-9 in the conference and to 10-15 overall. The Rambelles, who came into the game having already clinched an LSC Tournament berth, dropped to 9-2 in the conference and to 18-6 overall.
At intermission, Eastern was fortunate to be down by only nine points, 39-30, after ASU outrebounded the Zias 32-16 over the first twenty minutes. Bryant scored 12 points for ENMU in the first half, while Britinee Davis recorded 11 points for the Rambelles. [more]

Bryant Earns 25 Points and Seven Rebounds for ENMU
Maggie Deweber of Texas Woman’s University connected on a three-point shot at the end of regulation to force overtime, then the Pioneers scored 16 points in the extra session, for a 68-60 victory over Eastern New Mexico University on Saturday, Feb. 11 in Magee Arena. The Pioneers improved to 12-10 overall, while evening their Lone Star Conference South Division record at 5-5. The Zias, now 9-15 on the season, lost their fourth game in a row and dropped to 1-9 in the LSC South.
Eastern moved in front in the final minutes of the first half and did not relinquish the lead until the overtime period. TWU tied ENMU at 49-49 with just over 4:00 left in regulation. Neither team could convert over the next three-plus minutes until the LSC’s leading free throw shooter, Heather Brown (Jr., G, Hereford, TX/Hereford HS) of ENMU, hit two shots from the charity stripe with 37 seconds left. The ENMU basketball game against Texas Woman's University at 1 p.m. MST on Saturday, Feb. 11, will not be broadcast on the Internet or on the radio. ENMU's home games next week, against Angelo State University on Wednesday, Feb. 15, and against Abilene Christian University on Saturday, Feb. 18, will be broadcast live on KSEL Radio, 1450 AM and through Free Teamline on the Internet.
ENMU’s Second Half Comeback Falls Short in 60-58 Loss at Kingsville
Eastern New Mexico University came back from a second half 15 point deficit to tie the game with just over a minute left, but could not convert down the stretch in a 60-58 Lone Star Conference South Division loss to Texas A&M University-Kingsville on Thursday, Feb. 9 at Kleberg Bank Court. The Zias, who never led in the game, dropped to 9-14 overall and 1-8 in the LSC South. Eastern New Mexico University came back from two double-digit deficits, but fell short in the final minutes in a 82-78 loss to nationally ranked West Texas A&M University in a Lone Star Conference South Division game on Feb. 6 at Greyhound Arena. Prior to the game, the Zias lost their fourth starter this season, Erika Cook (So., G, Portales, NM/Portales HS), for the season due to a broken hand suffered in a loss this past Saturday, Feb. 4, to Texas Woman’s University. Texas Woman’s University went on a 20-5 run in the final six minutes of the game to defeat Eastern New Mexico University, 65-51, in a Lone Star Conference South Division game, Feb. 4 at Greyhound Arena. The Zias dropped to 9-12 overall, 1-6 in the LSC South. The Pioneers improved to 11-9 on the season, as they evened up their LSC South record at 4-4.
Down by eight points, 41-33, with just under 11 minutes left, the Zias came roaring back with a 13-4 run to take the lead, 46-45, at the 6:26 mark. Heather Brown (Jr., G, Hereford, TX/Hereford HS) started the run with a three-pointer and a jumper. Later, senior post Tiana Bryant (Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico), on her way to her seventh double-double of the year, hit her only 3-pointer of the game with 8:08 left to pull ENMU within 45-41. Tiana Bryant (Sr., Post, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) scored a game-high 21 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, as she was instrumental in Eastern New Mexico University’s 71-62 Lone Star Conference South Division win over Texas A&M University-Kingsville, on Feb. 2 at Greyhound Arena. The Zias, playing in their sixth LSC South game, recorded their first conference victory and improved their overall record to 9-11. The Javelinas remained winless in seven LSC South games and dropped to 4-16 overall.
ENMU built a seemingly insurmountable 23-point lead, 54-31, with 12:31 to play, but suddenly faced an inability to convert offensively or make defensive stops. Kingsville took advantage of Eastern's struggles to go on a 31-12 run over the ensuing 12 minutes, to get to within four points, 66-62, with 32 seconds remaining on the clock. [more]

Eastern New Mexico University could not overcome 27 points and 19 rebounds by Katherine Maples of Midwestern State University, in an 81-78 loss to MSU, on Jan. 28 at Greyhound Arena. Four Zias finished in double digits in scoring, but the loss left ENMU winless (0-5) in the Lone Star Conference South Division. Eastern also dropped to 8-11 overall. The Mustangs improved their record to 8-11, including 2-4 in conference play.
Maples and Tia Banks both hit back ends of two-shot fouls in the final 13 seconds to clinch the victory for the Mustangs. Heather Brown (Jr., G, Hereford, TX/Hereford HS) scored Eastern’s final four points, including a game-tying jumper with 55 seconds left. Eastern New Mexico University shot only 20.7% from the field in the first half on its way to a 67-47 loss to Tarleton State University, in a Lone Star Conference South Division game on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Greyhound Arena. The Zias, who have connected on only 37% of their shots this season, dropped to 8-10 overall and remained winless through the first four games of the LSC South schedule. The TexAnns remained undefeated in the LSC South with a 5-0 record and improved their overall mark to 13-5.
Eastern struggled offensively in the first half, as the Zias faced Tarleton’s conference best defense. ENMU managed to stay in the game through the first seven minutes of play, but Eastern was outscored 19-8 over the remainder of the half. Heather Brown (Jr., G, Hereford, TX/Hereford HS) scored 10 of Eastern’s 16 first-half points and finished the game with 23 points to tie her season high, set against Texas A&M University-Commerce on Dec. 8. Senior post Tiana Bryant (Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) scored 20 points to extend her double-digit scoring streak to 21 games, but it wasn’t enough for Eastern New Mexico University, as Abilene Christian University hit 36 of 45 free throws and held ENMU to 34.7% shooting to claim an 83-63 victory on Saturday, Jan. 21, in a Lone Star Conference game. ACU improved to 7-10 overall, 1-3 in the LSC South, while ENMU fell to 8-9, 0-3 in the LSC South.
ACU led 41-27 at halftime, and the Zias were unable to mount a serious threat in the second half. Eastern sank just 1 of 13 long-range shots (7.7%) and was called for 29 fouls, including 16 in the second half. The Wildcats, who converted 23 of 27 free throws (85.2%) over the final 20 minutes, saw their lead dwindle to nine points, 48-39, with 13:50 remaining, but countered with a 9-0 run to take control of the game for good. Angelo State University, ranked 24th in NCAA Division II, built a 43-29 lead in the first half and went on to defeat Eastern New Mexico University, 82-65, in a Lone Star Conference South Division game on Thursday, Jan. 19. ENMU pulled within 56-47 with 8:01 left, but ASU closed the game with a 26-18 run to lift the Rambelles to 12-4, 3-0 in the LSC South. Eastern dropped to 8-8, 0-2 in the LSC South.
Angelo State scored the game’s first eight points and led 15-4 with 14:39 left in the first
half. The Zias cut the lead to 20-14 on a layup and foul shot by Tiana Bryant (Sr., Post, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) at the 11:31 mark. Each team added two points before ASU went on an 11-2 run that extended the lead to 33-18 with 4:43 remaining in the period. [more]

The Lone Star Conference crossover victory moved the Zias over .500 with an 8-7 record. The Lady Savages fell to 6-9 after suffering their third loss in four games.
SE Oklahoma trailed by eight points, 72-64, with 2:14 to play, but rallied within one point of the Zias, 73-72, following two free throws by Jessica Hocker with 37 seconds remaining. After Bryant missed a jumper and Sami Jo Cotton-Black rebounded for SOSU with 13 seconds left, the Lady Savages called time-out. [more]

The win ended a six-game losing streak, including five consecutive losses on the road, as the Zias returned to the .500 level with a 7-7 record. The Lady Tigers dropped to 5-7 on the season.
Brown began her personal run with a game-tying three-pointer with 3:52 to play. After a layup by Lacey Goldwire put the Lady Tigers up by two, Brown hit her third three-pointer of the game to give the Zias the lead for good, 54-53, with 1:04 remaining. Eastern New Mexico University led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but the University of Central Oklahoma rallied for a 38-37 halftime lead, on its way to an 84-69 victory over ENMU, in a Lone Star Conference crossover game on Saturday, Jan. 7. The Zias, who connected on 7 of 14 three-pointers in the first half, hit just 2 of 10 long-range shots in the second half, as Eastern fell to 6-7 with its sixth consecutive loss. Central Oklahoma, which ended it own six-game losing streak, moved to 3-10 on the season.
The Zias were led by senior post Tiana Bryant (Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico), who scored 21 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots. Bryant has registered 20 or more points six times this season. NSU improved it record to 9-3, while ENMU fell to 6-6 with its fifth consecutive loss.
Eastern limited NSU to just 34.6% shooting in the first half (9 of 26). The Zias hit 48.0% from the field during the first 20 minutes, as Tiana Bryant (Sr., Post, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) scored 14 of her game-high 28 points. schedule for both teams, West Texas A&M University easily defeated the Eastern New Mexico University, 76-44, on Friday, Dec. 30 at the First United Bank Center. The Zias dropped to 6-5 overall, 0-1 in the LSC South. The Lady Buffs, ranked 15th in NCAA Division II, improved to 9-1 on the season, 1-0 in conference play.
Eastern took its only lead of the game, 4-3, when freshman guard Laura Vote (Kingwood, TX/Kingwood HS) converted a couple of free throws with 17:53 to play in the opening half. A jumper by Tiana Bryant (Sr., Post, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) with 14:01 left on the clock tied the game at nine, before the Lady Buffs closed out the first half on a 30-13 run for a commanding 39-22 lead at the break. For the second time in as many nights, poor shooting in the second half proved costly for Eastern New Mexico University, as the University of Alaska-Anchorage rallied from a 13-point deficit early in the second half to defeat the Zias, 62-61, on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. Tristan Burnett scored the tying and winning points for UAA on a pair of free throws with eight seconds left. Megan Ratliff (Jr., G, Farmington, NM/Cochise College), who led ENMU with 14 points, missed a potential game-winning shot as time expired.
Alaska-Anchorage, which has played all nine of its games in Anchorage, improved to 7-2 overall. The Seawolves are 7-0 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex and 2-0 at Sullivan Arena. Eastern New Mexico University fell to 6-4 on the season. The Zias are 1-3 since two starters and a key reserve suffered season-ending knee injuries in three consecutive games. [more]

Rebecca Kielpinski scored 26 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked five shots to lead the University of Alaska-Anchorage to a 64-59 victory over Eastern New Mexico University, on Monday, Dec. 19 at the Wells Fargo Sports Complex. Kielpinski scored 18 points in the second half, while hitting 8 of 10 field goals and 2 of 2 free throws. ENMU received 22 points and five rebounds from Tiana Bryant (Sr., Post, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico).
UAA improved to 6-2 on the season, while ENMU fell to 6-3. The two teams will play another game in Anchorage on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7:30 p.m. MST.
Kielpinski was one of two Seawolves with a double-double during the game. Kelsey Larsen tacked on 13 points and matched Kielpinski with 10 rebounds. Tristan Burnett scored nine points for UAA, while Mari Riser earned eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. [more]

Bryant dominated the first half, finishing with 18 points on 8 for 12 shooting, including one three pointer. Eastern took an early eight-point lead at 10-2, before St. Edward’s went on a 16-0 run for an 18-10 lead with 9:51 to play in the half. Playing without two starters and a key bench player, Eastern New Mexico University received a strong performance from Heather Brown (Jr., G, Hereford, TX/Hereford HS), who scored 23 points, including 17 in the second half, as ENMU claimed a 66-63 victory over Texas A&M University-Commerce, in a Lone Star Conference crossover game on Thursday, Dec. 8. The Zias improved to 6-1 and the Lions dropped to 4-3 on the season.
Both teams had a tough time putting the ball through the basket in the first half. ENMU connected on only 29.4% of its first-half field goal attempts, while Commerce managed an even worse 26.5% from the field. The Zias went into halftime with a 24-22 lead, after finishing the half with a 6-0 run, behind a basket by Brown and two layups by Lindsey Wood (Fr., G, Muleshoe, TX/Muleshoe HS). Senior post Tiana Bryant (Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) recorded her fourth double-double of the season, as she led Eastern New Mexico University to a 66-65 victory over Cameron University in the Aggie Gym on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Zias, playing without injured starter Elizabeth Richards (Jr., F, Texico, NM/Texico HS), improved their record to 5-1 this season. Following the loss in the Lone Star Conference crossover game, the Lady Aggies dropped to 2-5.
Bryant finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds. She did most of her damage to Cameron in the second half, as two early fouls limited her to only six minutes of playing time in the first half. She earned four points and two rebounds before sitting out the final 13:30 of the opening period. Bryant played all 20 minutes in the second half. [more]
Zias Suffer First Loss of Season at SW Oklahoma, 73-50
After opening the season with four easy victories, the Eastern New Mexico University Zias were outplayed in a 73-46 loss at Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, Dec. 1, in a Lone Star Conference crossover game. The Zias fell to a 4-1 overall. The Bulldogs improved to 3-4 overall.
Consecutive layups by Elizabeth Richards (Jr., F, Texico, NM/Texico HS) and Lindsey Wood (Fr., G, Muleshoe, TX/Muleshoe HS) of ENMU tied the game at 12-12 with 13:37 to play in the first half. The Bulldogs reacted quickly, going on a 13-0 run, including seven points by Julie Dawson. [more]
Lehtonen Records Career High, as Zias Remain Undefeated
ENMU Improves to 4-0 with 71-50 Win over Fort Lewis
For the second time this season, Riikka Lehtonen (Sr., P, Turku, Finland/Kilgore College) recorded a career high in scoring, as she provided 18 points in a 71-50 Eastern New Mexico University win over Fort Lewis College, on Saturday, Nov. 26, in Canyon, Texas. The Zias defeated the Skyhawks on the final day of the West Texas A&M University SBC/ Coca-Cola Thanksgiving Shootout. Eastern remained undefeated, improving to 4-0. The Skyhawks’ overall record dropped to 1-3. ENMU and West Texas A&M University each went 2-0 in the tournament, while Fort Lewis and Montana State University-Billings were both 0-2.

Richards Leads Zias with 19 Points, 12 Rebounds
Eastern New Mexico University placed five players in double figures and junior forward Elizabeth Richards (Texico, NM/Texico HS) recorded her second consecutive double-double, as the Zias defeated Montana State University-Billings, 82-67, in the first round of the SBC/Coca-Cola Thanksgiving Shootout on Friday, Nov. 25 at West Texas A&M University. ENMU improved to 3-0, while MSU-Billlings fell to 1-2. In the other first round game, West Texas A&M routed Fort Lewis College, 90-59.
The Thanksgiving Shootout will continue on Saturday, Nov. 26, with the pre-determined schedule matching ENMU against For Lewis at 1 p.m. MST. West Texas A&M will take on MSU-Billlings at 5 p.m. MST.
Richards led the Zias with 19 points and 12 rebounds. She also contributed five assists, three steals and one blocked shot. It was Richards’ second solid performance in a row, as she scored a career-high 25 points to go with 11 boards, eight steals, four assists and two blocks in Eastern’s 87-52 win over Western New Mexico University on Nov. 22. Zia Basketball Games at West Texas A&M Tournament will be Broadcast on the Internet
The Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball games at the SBC/Coca-Cola Thanksgiving Shootout at West Texas A&M University, Nov. 25-26, will be broadcast on the Internet through Eastern’s agreement with TRZ/Teamline. The audio broadcast of each game will be available free to listeners on the Internet.
Noam Ilan, graduate assistant for sports information at ENMU, will provide the play-by-play on Friday (Nov. 25), starting at 12:50 p.m. MST, approximately 10 minutes before the 1 p.m. MST tip-off of the Zias’ first round game against Montana State University-Billings. Robert McKinney, sports information director at ENMU, will supply the play-by-play on Saturday (Nov. 26), also starting at 12:50 p.m. MST, as the Zias take on Fort Lewis College.

Zias Move to 2-0 with 87-52 Win over Western New Mexico
Richards Earns 25 Points, 11 Rebounds, Eight Steals; Bryant Adds 21 Points, 10 Rebounds, Four Steals
Elizabeth Richards (Jr., F, Texico, NM/Texico HS), who sat out the entire 2004-05 season, came within two steals of a triple-double, finishing with a career-high 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead Eastern New Mexico University to a 87-52 rout over Western New Mexico University, at Greyhound Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The Zias improved to 2-0 on the season, with both wins over WNMU. Eastern won the previous meeting, 87-61, in Silver City, N.M. on Nov 15. The Lady Mustangs remained winless, as they dropped to 0-4.
Tiana Bryant (Sr., Post, Roswell, NM/Univ. of New Mexico) also finished with a double-double for ENMU, recording a career-high 21 points and 10 rebounds in the easy victory. Eastern scored the first seven points of the game, and led 11-2, before Western went on an 11-4 run to get within a basket at 15-13. Following a 30-second time-out, ENMU scored nine unanswered points on the way to a 38-26 halftime lead. [more]
Three Zias Record Career Highs in 87-61 Win over WNMU
The Eastern New Mexico University women’s basketball team began the 2005-06 season with a bang, as the Zias easily defeated Western New Mexico University, 87-61, Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the Mustang Fieldhouse. Riikka Lehtonen (Sr., Post, Turku, Finland/Ranger College) was the leading scorer in the game, as she scored a career-high 17 points to give the Zias a 1-0 record. Tiana Bryant (Sr., Post, Roswell, NM/University of New Mexico) recorded a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing a career-best 13 rebounds, while Portales native Erika Cook (So., G, Portales, NM/Portales HS) attained her career high, 12 points, all in the first half. Drawing for Mini-Chopper Postponed until Homecoming
Fund-raiser will Help the Dan Buzard Cancer Fund
The drawing for the winner of the mini-chopper being constructed by Ron Knowles and his crew at Afterflash Customs has been postponed until the Eastern New Mexico University homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005. The mini-chopper, which is being built as a fund-raiser for the Dan Buzard Cancer Fund, was originally scheduled to be given away on June 18, as part of Heritage Days. [more]
Jennifer Foster from Hill College Signs National Letter-of-Intent with ENMU Women's Basketball Team
Jennifer Foster, a 6’1” forward/post from Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the women’s basketball at Eastern New Mexico University. Foster, who is from Wichita Falls, Texas, will be a junior at ENMU during the 2005-06 season.
Foster averaged 10.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game at Hill. She also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference recognition. [more]
Missy Kirkland from Hill College Signs National Letter-of-Intent with ENMU Women's Basketball Team
Missy Kirkland, a 5’8” guard/forward from Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play women’s basketball at Eastern New Mexico University. Kirkland, from Arlington, Texas, will be a junior at ENMU during the 2005-06 season.
As a team captain at Hill in 2004-05, Kirkland averaged 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. She was named Honorable Mention All-Conference. [more]
Ashley Sutton from Tyler Junior College Signs National Letter-of-Intent with ENMU Women's Basketball Team
Ashley Sutton, a 6’0” forward from Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas, has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to play women’s basketball at Eastern New Mexico University. Sutton, from Italy, Texas, will be a junior at ENMU during the 2005-06 season.
Sutton averaged 5.6 points per game and shot 33% from 3-point range while at Tyler. She scored a season-high 23 points against Clarendon College and earned All Tournament Team honors at the Thunderbird Classic hosted by New Mexico Junior College. [more]
