PORTALES, N.M. — Jennifer Goodrum, a 5’10” defender from Weber State University in Odgen, Utah, will transfer to Eastern New Mexico University this fall to play for the Zia soccer team. Goodrum also previously played soccer at Cochise College, where she earned First Team All-Conference honors at the junior college level. She will be a senior at ENMU during the 2005 season.

In May of 2001, Goodrum graduated in the top ten of her class at Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, N.M. At Del Norte, Goodrum participated in several sports, including soccer, basketball, track and cross country. In 2003, she earned an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology from Cochise, where she played soccer for two seasons. She played at Weber State during the 2004 season. Goodrum will major in Business Administration at ENMU.

The 2005 season will be the third year the Zias have competed in intercollegiate soccer. In 2004, ENMU finished the year with an overall record of 9-9-2, including a 2-5-2 record in the Lone Star Conference. The Zias earned 8 points in the LSC standings (three points per win; one point per tie) and fell just one point shy of qualifying for the conference tournament.

“Jennifer is a player who considered ENMU two years ago, and we are glad to have her committing to ENMU for next year,” Head Coach Travis McCorkle said. “She is a tall defender, who we hope to use in defending and attacking the goal. Kenny Dale, her coach at Cochise College, gave her his highest recommendation and I’m sure she will fit in nicely with our team.”
